Soul to Ego, “Come In, Please!”
Did You Really Think I Sent You to Earth to Abuse Yourself?
This gathering will be about loving and caring for oneself with as much understanding and enthusiasm as each of us demonstrates toward others. Spiritual students tend to be service-oriented by nature. We tend to give often and deeply of ourselves. We may have few boundaries, which prevent others from taking advantage of us in terms of time, money, and other resources. But what happens when our giving becomes cumbersome, or even painful to us? What do we do then? Why do we ignore our own self-interests (health, finances, time, ethics)? Are we really helping them, or are we enabling them and just “people-pleasing?”
Why Do I Often Say “Yes,” When I Should Say No?
In our discussion we will learn about:
- Underlying beliefs that may be at work which may provide some of the reasons WHY you do what you do.
- How you FEEL when you agree to do (or not do) something that goes against your instincts or desires (Fight or Flight?)
- Are we helping people or enabling them (which keeps them weak)?
- Core Beliefs and ideas for correcting destructive patterns
- Setting Boundaries and learning about Assertive Communications
- What to say when we learn to say “no,” instead of “yes.”
Boundaries! What Boundaries?
When we always put the needs and desires of others first, we fail to respect ourselves by meeting our own basic needs and desires. We also may be enabling people to be weak, rather than helping them help themselves better. So, we’re going to come up with some practical ideas about how to say “no” when we should decline a request.
You’ll get notes, so you don’t have to remember everything, and you’ll have exercises that you can experiment with at home.
