What Is The Most Important Advice You’ve Ever Received?

When I was a teenager,

a petite and sweet,

gray-haired church choir director

semi-smiled wistfully,

brandished her baton in my direction,

and told me to remember this.

What You Don’t Use, You Lose!

At the time, I did not realize that this important advice applied to

EVERYTHING!

Everything, Like What?

Opportunities, such as:

getting work that you LOVE

auditioning for the performing arts

making a friend out of an acquaintance

saving an animal’s life.

Acquiring Skills, such as:

those ranging from singing or typing,

to excelling in athletics or computing,

and even maintaining positive relationships with the people you love.

Where Did I Go Wrong?

I was naive and always thought

“There is more where that came from”

in the way of opportunities.

I was wrong.

My ADVICE?

Don’t Let Lack of Confidence Sabotage You

Choose carefully, and don’t say no, just because you lack self-confidence.

Choose carefully, because all the time, effort, and resources you spend on one thing is time, effort, and resources you are not spending on something else that might be more in alignment with your heart’s desires and/or perceived purpose in life.
Direct your attention, intention, and resources toward the things you most value and desire in life.
If you have been asked to do something (like exhibit your talent in an audition), it is because someone sees your value, even if you don’t. In addition, if you just want to do it, despite discouragement from no one, DO IT!
- YOU own your life. It does not belong to anyone else.
- You are responsible for the choices you make (by commission and omission).
- You are equally as deserving of happiness and success as any other person on the planet. Value and prioritize your health: mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual.
- The time to do your Soul’s bidding is NOW.
In the end – even if you do not consider yourself to have been successful at what you attempted – you will learn something from the experience.
