EZ Exercises for Winter

Overcome Winter Blues, Apathy, and Sheer Laziness by Doing EZ Exercises

Regardless of gender,

“You are only six months away from being In or Out Of Shape!”

That thought always helps me get motivated to start working out after a long period of exercise inactivity.

Aging Changes the Exercise Game

(click on pic for animation)

I used to participate in gymnastics, as well as dance performances (ballet and “modern dance,” as it was known Back In the Day). Flexibility made yoga or Pilates a joy. However, now that I’m older and have an attendant “messed up knee,” my choices of what feats to perform have changed a bit. I’m not going to try skateboarding, but …

I do love to do stretches!

And, some of us can still dance – alone or with a partner, if we’re lucky enough to have one!

Therefore, it is thrilling to know that you can get truly effective aerobic exercise while lying down! (This method was featured on “The Doctors” and other major media. It uses a small machine that is great for people who cannot or will not exercise, and I’ll describe it in a minute.)

But first, it also was thrilling to find a wonderful Tai Chi Master at https://taichizidong.com. (No, I don’t get any income from promoting this person or website. I am sharing, because I think they are WONDERFUL!)

Good News for Those with Limited Ability and/or Space!

These Are

EZ Tai Chi Exercises

  1. A person can do many of those exercises while seated, watching television, listening to an audiobook, in a room full of family or friends, or even in a meeting.
  2. More good news is that you don’t have to get dressed and go out into the winter cold to commute to a gym.
  3. The Tai Chi Zi Dong Master provides simple and easy exercises that work by using your hands to manipulate the Chinese medicine-identified meridians and acupuncture points.

Meridians relate to various organs and a multitude of disease symptoms. You don’t have to know any of this in order to successfully perform the exercises! But, in case you would like more info, here is a link.

Definition of Meridians: “Acupuncture is based on a meridional theory, which incorporates a system of channels through which vital energy, or Qi, flows.” To learn more, click here: Journal of Acupuncture and Meridian Studies

In fact, this Master teaches so many wonderful things that I have a whole collection of his teachings on Instagram. Unfortunately, Instagram says that only I can see what I’ve saved, but I’m going to try posting the link here and see if it will work. Below that, I’ve posted a sample YouTube video.

If clicking on the picture didn’t cause the video to play, click here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWHQk96RPok

Again, you don’t have to know or do anything other than follow the exercise instructions. However, if you want to know more about Taichi.Zidong history and spiritual traditions, Click Here.

Exercises AND Rest / How Much Is Too Much?

yellow circle with ? by Gerd Altmann

“Your body needs a rest from working out, but too long a rest has negative consequences.”

InBody points out: “You shouldn’t push yourself to work out every day without a break because your body needs rest and recovery days to repair muscle fibers and strengthen itself between workouts.”

  • Detraining is a phenomenon in which you lose the beneficial effects of training, but it is reversible.
  • Your fitness loss is dependent on several factors: length of your exercise layoff, age, and level of fitness.
  • Muscle memory can help you regain lost muscle quicker.

Talk about EZ Exercises! ~

5 Minutes on This

Class I Medical Device

Chi Machine = 1/2 Hour Walk,

Aerobically Speaking.

Just Lie Down and Set the Timer!

What am I talking about? It’s that famous “chi machine” that we used to see on television ads and health programs, like The Doctors. It truly is a miraculous blessing that I have used for many years.

  1. Click Here to see my page for the excruciating details.
  2. In twenty-five words or less, it massages your organs and back while providing aerobic exercise while you lie down.
  3. In 25 words or more, below are some benefits:

Chi Machine Benefits Summary:

1) Relieves minor muscle aches, pains and tension caused by fatigue or overexertion – relaxes muscles locally – gentle internal massage.

2) Increases local blood circulation, cell oxygenation and metabolism – promotes mobility and energy.

3) Stimulation of the Lymphatic System promotes elimination of metabolic waste and toxins. Lymphatic fluid drainage (proven in clinical trials), and dissipation of lactic acid.

4) Enhances Alpha waves of relaxation in the brain, coupled with stimulation of the spine’s autonomic nervous system which shifts the body from ‘fight or flight’ into ‘rest and relaxation’ – stress release

5) Common side benefits may include sounder sleep, improved elimination, improved mobility, and general weight loss combined with a healthy diet.

I don’t sell what I don’t use faithfully, and I USE this as a major contributor to my health. Ergo, I sell it. I also use it after moving furniture or doing heavy yard work to get rid of back pain, in addition to its aerobicizing benefits It works like magic on my back after all that muscle straining.

Below is a picture of it and the sturdy carry case I use when giving demonstrations to others or when I’m traveling. Below that, you’ll see the positions in which one lies while the machine is operating. You’ll also be able to click on videos that show it in action.

One More Thing!

Reflexology!

There are self-massage things you can do to help your health. You don’t need a professional practitioner, and you can do it while watching tv, etc. For example, just rub every little nook and cranny on your ears to stimulate those same meridians and acupuncture points. I’d tell you more, but that’s for a different blog. Plus, I’m not sure this qualifies as “exercise.” So, here’s an example from Pinterest, and then I’ll move on.

Plan Posts for 2024

Below Are Calendar Aids for Planning Your 2024 Social Media Posts

Whether you own a business or have other reasons for wanting to have a public profile that will show up in Google searches, it’s wise to choose content carefully and to post regularly.  According to WyZow, a good guideline is to follow the 5:3:2 Rule.

“What is the 5:3:2 Rule?

When it comes to social sharing, the 5:3:2 rule is a ratio to follow for a well-rounded social strategy that will keep your fans engaged – and help you build more followers.

So for example, if you publish 10 posts per week then:

5: Should be content from others that is relevant to your audience.

3: Should be content from you that is relevant to your audience, but not sales focused.

2: Should be personal, fun content that helps humanise your brand.”

What is the 4:1:1 Rule?

This rule says that for every six posts you create on your social media channels, four posts should entertain or educate, one post should be a “soft sell” and one post should be a “hard sell.”

What is the 3:3:3 Rule?

Plan Posts a Bit Differently

The 3:3:3 “Rule of Thumb” is not dependent on how many total posts you make. Instead, it’s about what percentage of each kind of content you should use so as to keep your viewers interested. It suggests you post 1/3 educational content; 1/3 entertaining content; and 1/3 things directly about what you are promoting (your products, your book, your worthy cause). Depending on your area of interest, the suggestions may vary. However, there are things you can choose to use as “filler” when you want currently-relevant material. That’s what we’ll share today. Coping with Anxiety

Anxiety?

I promise not to tell you, “Take three deep, cleansing breaths,” or “Count to ten,“ although that, too, would be helpful as a start!

in both business and personal situations.

SoftWave Pain Treatments

SoftWave Technology – for Pain Relief and Health Benefits

emoji of happy face with party hat and streamersImagine having a painful injury or deteriorating joints but not needing medications or surgery to repair or replace your body parts!

SoftWave therapy has been successful in treating common conditions associated with joint deterioration, as well as dance, athletic, and other injuries, quickly, easily, and affordably. That’s what we’re going to talk about today; and, near the end, I’ll introduce you to the wonderful chiropractor who taught me about it.

Note: sometimes, I hear people use the terms ShockWave or StemWave when referring to SoftWave Therapies. Shock wave technology has been around for many years, but there are more recent innovations.

  • SoftWaveTRT (the company) provides a “next generation” tool by developing a better way to advance tissue healing and regeneration in the healthcare fields of orthopedics, traumatology, wound care, aesthetics, and urology.
  • SoftWave technology currently is used at leading national and international research, medical, and chiropractic centers.

When you see the equipment used and the process, you will know whether these terms are referring to the same technology. Next, let’s see how it is described on “The Doctors” tv show. Continue Reading →

DAILY HEADACHES

NEW DAILY PERSISTENT HEADACHE

Daily Headaches – I’m writing about this on April 30th, 2023, because I have had a constant headache since late October or the first week in November 2022, and there is no end in sight!

It is not a series of headaches. Instead, it is one long, unending headache.

It recedes in intensity when I am sitting, standing, or walking. Boom! It then flares to high-level pain when I bend downward (like to put on shoes). It reaches a peak when I cough or sneeze and feels like it will “blow the top of my head off!”

Is It a Migraine?

Healthcare providers and others keep referring to it as a migraine. My mother suffered from migraines that lasted 2 or 3 days. She was super sensitive to light and sound, and she experienced nausea and other typical symptoms. I have none of that and have lived a long life without being prone to any kind of headaches.

Consequently, I don’t think a diagnosis of “migraine headache” is accurate, but it was a starting place when I began researching the topic. Below is a quote that enabled me to find a new way to understand what is happening. Perhaps, it will help you or someone you know who is having a similar experience. Continue Reading →

Healthy Foods for Unhealthy Conditions

Healthy Foods and Proper Food Combining

Pictures Are Worth a Thousand Words!

healthy foods - organic fruits and veggies

Healthy foods – when combined properly and used consistently – can have wonderful illness-prevention properties and may reduce bloating, gas, reflux, and other yucky symptoms!

I found a great site, Shape-Able.com. which elaborates on several kinds of foods that are best to address specific conditions. I encourage you to go to their site. However, I’ll share a few of their pictures (with permission) to give you examples. Then, you’ll know it’s worth the time to investigate more on their website!

I am not a nutritionist. Most of the classes I teach are about personal or professional development and other ways of being or becoming healthy. Examples include setting boundaries, self-care, stress reduction, meditation, working with chakras, “energy work” – like Reiki, and learning techniques for changing fears and limiting beliefs so that you can meet your personal and professional goals. However, I KNOW THAT “WE ARE WHAT WE EAT,” so I want to share this great information with you. If you want to know more about my specialties, see the Contact Us info at the end of this blog or email me at GetWellStayWell@outlook.com. Solfeggio Frequencies for Health

What AM I Talking About?!!!

Solfeggio Frequencies, according to Nature Healing Society, are musical notes based on the six-tone scale, using sol-fa syllables. Right away, we can get confused, because most of us are accustomed to the seven sounds associated with musical notes (called solmization). Furthermore, what has this got to do with creating or maintaining good health? You’ll have to read more to find out!

piano keys by andrewsbird for Solfeggio frequencies

  • In America, even children – or, perhaps, especially children – know the musical scale as being accompanied by the solfa syllables for each note: do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, ti.
  • In India, these are the commonly used syllables ṣa, ṛi, ga, ma, pa, dha, ni.

THIS NEXT PARAGRAPH IS FOR MUSICIANS ONLY, BECAUSE ONLY MUSICIANS AND “SERIOUS” MUSIC LOVERS WILL CARE.

Pentatonic means “five-tone.” Equally useful, as an improvisational and compositional resource, is a six-note scale that simply adds one scale degree to the structure of major pentatonic. … In the key of E, that would be E, F# , G# , B, C# , and in the key of A, the notes are A, B, C# , E, F#.

illustration of hand holding a line of Solfeggio frequencies by Gerd Altmann

Regardless of the names given the notes or the syllables, each musical tone has specific vibrational frequencies, called Herz (abbreviated as Hz), and they can be used for healing and bringing the body/mind into healthful harmony.

Consequently, YouTube is now chock full of videos with varying Solfeggio Frequencies to address issues from relieving pain to the acquisition of abundance. Do they work? You must try some to see how they affect you.

Meanwhile, let’s see if we can become even more confused.

What Are the 7 Musical Notes?

Treble Clef Solfeggio Frequencies by Gordon Johnson

In the chromatic scale, there are 7 main musical notes called A, B, C, D, E, F, and G.

They each represent a different frequency or pitch. For example, the “middle” A note has a frequency of 440 Hz, and the “middle” B note has a frequency of 494 Hz.

And, Here is the List of the Six Main Solfeggio Frequencies per Nature Healing Society

There are six main solfeggio frequencies. They are:

  • The 396 Hz for liberating one from fear and guilt
  • The 417 Hz frequencies for facilitating change and undoing situations
  • The 528 Hz for miracles and transformations like DNA repair
  • The 639 Hz frequencies for relationships and reconnecting
  • The 741 Hz solfeggio frequencies for getting solutions and expressing themselves
  • The 852 Hz frequencies for returning one to a spiritual order
  • The 963 HZ solfeggio frequencies create room for oneness and unity.

And to Confuse Us Again, on YouTube, You Will Find Lists of NINE Major Solfeggio Healing Frequencies

Have new frequencies, with the capability of bringing the body/mind into good health and balance, been discovered?

Is it a marketing ploy?

I don’t know the answers.

What I do know is that experimenting with them is the best way to determine whether playing those videos will help you with any given issue.

Solfeggio Frequencies for Physical Pain Relief

woman with shoulder pain

The first thing I noticed is that the Hz for pain relief seems to be in the 174 range, which is NOT among the six listed above.

The “main six” seem to be more esoteric in nature than pragmatic and practical in terms of addressing physical issues on the physical plane of existence.

Of course, we know “As Above, So Below” is applicable, but that is a philosophical, metaphysical conversation that is separate from this blog conversation.

There is a series using the marimba for pain relief. I’ve included an example below. It is very quiet, calming, and makes wonderful background music while one works, meditates, or sleeps.

On the other hand, if you set aside quiet time in a quiet space and use these frequencies as if in meditation, they can be considerably more effective.

There are many more Solfeggionbfrequencies for pain relief, some of which are much more lively. Here is a link to help you find some of them on YouTube.

Solfeggio Frequencies for Sleep and Cell Rejuvenation

illustration of man sleeping by Mohamed Hassan

These offerings typically are in the 528 Hz range. Here is a link to give you a list of suggestions on YouTube.

I have randomly chosen one which purports to include all Nine Solfeggio frequencies, described as follows. (Note: if you click on the link to Inner Lotus Music below, it will take you to a page where you can find many more videos by this producer.)

Inner Lotus Music  242K subscribers
All 9 Solfeggio Frequencies – played seamlessly one after the other – for a holistic healing, cell regeneration and Aura cleanse within one single track. Each frequency (also called a “Miracle Tone”) carries its very own specific benefits and can help your body and mind in many different ways. The music starts with 174Hz, known for its calming and relaxing qualities, and moves all the way up to the “Frequency of Gods”, 963Hz, associated with the pineal gland, the third eye and the crown chakra.

Solfeggio Frequencies for Clearing Negative Energy and Manifesting Abundance

Here is YouTube’s link where you can research and try various videos on these topics. Note, they generally are in the 417 Hz frequency range listed above (in the Big Six)  as working for facilitating change and undoing situations.

You Can Find Frequency Videos Advertised for Dogs!

Here is the YouTube link, but I’ve got a secret for you.

In my decades of experience as a holistic healer and pet owner, I know that animals respond to all the same frequencies as humans do, so you might not need something just for pets. When the videos use 528 Hz for animals, those are the same 528 Hz that work for humans, with one difference.

For example, it is easy to see the benefits of Reiki’s healing energy on animals. The primary difference between the effects on humans versus animals is that animals (especially small ones) absorb the energy quickly and without resistance. They need far less time spent than humans do to achieve the result.

Solfeggio Frequencies Are Just

One Source of Healing Energy Options

However, they’re among the most pleasant, as music is involved, and you don’t have to stop what you’re doing to benefit. I hope this has intrigued you to learn more and to give it a try!

Muscle Cramps and Magnesium

Muscle Cramp Symptoms

Athlete rolling on the grass - in pain because of leg cramps. Image by Shauking

Most muscle cramps (sudden sharp and lasting pains) develop in the leg muscles, particularly in the calf. The unlucky victim may also feel or see a hard lump beneath the skin. It is a “seizing” or  “bunching” of muscle tissue, and it doesn’t happen only to athletes. Furthermore, I usually get cramps in my feet and toes. Some people get spasms in their backs. IT HURTS!!!! Consequently, I explored why we get cramps and what to do about them. Then, I thought I might as well share the wealth of information with you!

Below, we’ll explore a few causes and solutions, based largely on publications by the Mayo Clinic, Harvard Medical School, and Healthline. As usual, I’m sharing food images, especially for people for whom English is not a first language or who have dyslexia or other impediments to reading easily.

Important: the content on this site should never be used as a substitute for direct medical advice from your doctor or other qualified clinicians.

Curiosity and Gratitude Beat Winter Blues

Curiosity Counts

dark clouds in background. Words: When your mind or emotions are feeling that shroud of a dark cloud enveloping you during the dank days of winter, you can do a few things to lift yourself out of the abyss. Curiosity Gratitude

We’ll explore ways to use your curiosity as a tool (or, if you prefer, as a weapon) to fight the doldrums. Let’s start with typical advice. To overcome depression, you might give or receive counsel to “express gratitude” frequently in life. However, unless you have made it a deeply ingrained habit, it is easy to forget or to do it in a haphazard way. Below, we’ll delve into some realistic, creative ways to really FEEL gratitude!

I know you don’t like to read more than three lines before moving on, but I’m going to give you some details and some links to help you anyway.

We’ll start with satisfying your curiosity, which leads more easily into feeling the warmth of gratitude.

SAD

This can help you overcome Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) which is a type of depression that is triggered by a change in seasons, usually in the Fall. This seasonal depression gets worse in Winter and is known as the “winter blues.”
