An Informal Video About Overcoming Cravings

If you can find the patience to watch this short video, you might discover something that can help you – either quickly or with just a teensy little bit of practice! Yes, it’s 15 whole minutes long! For some of you, that’s “forever,” but the information can save you a lifetime of ill-health and excess bodyfat! That would seem to be worth it, right?

(If you prefer, just watch the first part. It is a bit of an NLP exercise about substituting a desire to replace cravings for sugar and flour laden desserts with a desire to eat fruit. It runs to about 6 1/2 minutes into this informal presentation. Skip the rest of the nutritional info and, then, you can scroll down for the NLP script plus the other tips.)

NLP ~ Neuro-linguistic Programming ~ Plus Hypnosis

Hypnosis Demystified and Combined With Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP)

Clear Negative Emotions

Girl Meditating on BeachAre you one of those people who thinks you cannot be hypnotized? SURPRISE! All hypnosis is self-hypnosis, AND you get into the hypnotic brainwave state at least twice a day in typical activities. You are in the hypnosis brainwave state when you enter that condition (known to some as “la-la land”) right before you fall asleep and again when you re-emerge from sleep while awakening – before you get to full consciousness. During meditation, you also are in a hypnotic state of mind. Let’s learn the benefits of combining a hypnosis process with Neuro-linguistic Programming (NL). I have many tools and techniques to use in personal coaching and spiritual counseling sessions, and I count hypnotherapy and NLP as key components among them.

We’ll give details below; but, first:

Did You Know The Catholic Church and the American Medical Association Endorse Hypnosis as a LegitimateTherapy?

Yes, they do! The Catholic Church accepted hypnotherapy in 1956, and the AMA did so in 1958.

What Are Some Statistics About the Effectiveness of Hypnotherapy and Neuro-linguistic Programming?

Master NLP Hypnosis Teacher, Dr. Yvonne OswaldMy Master NLP Teacher, Dr. Yvonne Oswald, who is the award-winning, best-selling author of Every Word Has Power, shared the following results from a research study.

  • About 38% of people who undergo psychoanalysis recover after 600 sessions. She points out you could get better results by talking with your friends!
  • About 72% of clients who undergo behavior therapy get better after 22 sessions.
  • An astounding 93% of people have noticeable improvement after 6 sessions in hypnosis; and, when you add NLP exercises, they have made great changes with only 1,  2 or 3 sessions.

That is an amazing savings of time, money, and grief and well worth trying.

Why Do You Care? Neuro-linguistic Programming Can Help You Overcome Fear, Guilt, Shame, Anger, Limiting Beliefs, PTSD, and More … Oh, There’s That!

Before we do an exercise, let’s understand more about what our conscious, subconscious, and unconscious minds process in various brainwave states. Hypnosis involves a brain-wave state just like everything else we do. Here’s how those states break down, according to BrainWorks. I urge you to read their whole article via the link just given.

At the root of all our thoughts, emotions and behaviours is the communication between neurons within our brains. Brainwaves are produced by synchronised electrical pulses from masses of neurons communicating with each other.Brainwave speed is measured in Hertz (cycles per second) and they are divided into bands delineating slow, moderate, and fast waves.

DELTA WAVES (.5 TO 3 HZ)

Delta brainwaves are slow, loud brainwaves (low frequency and deeply penetrating, like a drumbeat). They are generated in deepest meditation and dreamless sleep. Delta waves suspend external awareness and are the source of empathy. Healing and regeneration are stimulated in this state, and that is why deep restorative sleep is so essential to the healing process.

THETA WAVES (3 TO 8 HZ)

Theta brainwaves occur most often in sleep but are also dominant in deep meditation. Theta is our gateway to learning, memory, and intuition. In theta, our senses are withdrawn from the external world and focused on signals originating from within. It is that twilight state which we normally only experience fleetingly as we wake or drift off to sleep. In theta we are in a dream; vivid imagery, intuition and information beyond our normal conscious awareness. It’s where we hold our ‘stuff’, our fears, troubled history, and nightmares.

ALPHA WAVES (8 TO 12 HZ)

Alpha brainwaves are dominant during quietly flowing thoughts, and in some meditative states. Alpha is ‘the power of now’, being here, in the present. Alpha is the resting state for the brain. Alpha waves aid overall mental coordination, calmness, alertness, mind/body integration and learning.

BETA WAVES (12 TO 38 HZ)

Beta brainwaves dominate our normal waking state of consciousness when attention is directed towards cognitive tasks and the outside world. Beta is a ‘fast’ activity, present when we are alert, attentive, engaged in problem solving, judgment, decision making, or focused mental activity.

Beta brainwaves are further divided into three bands…. Read more in the article.

GAMMA WAVES (38 TO 42 HZ)

Gamma brainwaves are the fastest of brain waves (high frequency, like a flute), and relate to simultaneous processing of information from different brain areas. Gamma brainwaves pass information rapidly and quietly. The most subtle of the brainwave frequencies, the mind has to be quiet to access gamma….” Read more in the article about spiritual emergence.

Dr. Yvonne Offers An NLP Way To Clear Negative Emotions Quickly and Lastingly

image of girl cowering in fearMy teacher talks about when we are afraid, we run; and, when we can’t run, we must stand and fight. When we have to “fight,” we become angry in the Fight or Flight model.

She says she does not ask her clients why they feel depressed, but, rather, at whom they are angry. (They might be angry at someone else, at a situation, and/or at themselves.) Dr. Yvonne adds, “if you can’t clear the anger, you can’t clear the rest.”

(unhappy smiley face with thumbs downNote: guilt is feeling bad about ourselves because of something we are/did, etc.  Shame is a feeling we get from the attitudes or actions of others. She used the two together in the video below for teaching purposes; but, typically, in NLP, we clear only one emotional layer at a time.)

Putting Yourself First for A Change – Exploring A Self-Care Checklist

Change Your Life! Happy figures.Putting Yourself First for A Change

profile of woman in headscarf - looking down - ready for changeAs we know, all cultural training teaches women to take care of their family’s needs as the highest priority and at any cost. As nurturing spirits, we often extend that caring behavior to include everyone but ourselves. The result can be difficulty in “saying no,” setting boundaries and addressing one’s own physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs. NOW is the time to change our minds – in a GOOD way.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP)

Dandelion seeds blowing in wind into blue sky and sun raysGuess what I just learned!    NLP!

As usual, I am scattering my seeds in many directions (like a good dandelion).  I just got my certificate of completion, from Dr. Yvonne (Oswald)  in a class on Neuro-Linguistic Programming, better known as NLP. This is an amazing technique which helps people overcome “stuck” issues (like emotional or psychological issues, fears and limiting beliefs) in a fraction of the time it would take using other techniques and without having to relive every single, tortuous moment of what caused the reaction to the causal event.

Are You: Walking a Tightrope? Feeling Insecure? Confused?

Wondering How To Overcome Obstacles? Looking For New Direction? walking on a tight rope that gets tangled and shaped as a question mark

You can go to a psychiatrist for twenty years, or you can take an NLP “break-through” session for 5 hours, and I’d bet you a double fudge chocolate ice cream cone that the NLP will work far better and much faster!

In order to get my certification as an NLP professional, I have to complete 30 hours of NLP practice and pass an exam. If you live near me, I’d love for you to help me by scheduling a practice session with me. My (beautiful, British, now Canadian, world-renowned) instructor assured us that people will benefit greatly, even though students are not yet fully comfortable in conducting the sessions.  (In the future, I’ll be able to do it by Skype or other media, but I prefer practicing in person.) I advise you to take advantage of this opportunity; because the actual sessions are priced at $150/hour or $500 for a break-through session. For the first volunteers, I’ll give 5 hours free (the $500 value), after which I’ll charge the normal hourly rate. So, ACT NOW, as they say!

John Grinder (linguistics) and Richard Bandler (mathematics and gestalt therapy) created NLP  to generate models of excellence; however, these techniques are applicable to every area of life, including, but not limited to business. Lots of information is available on the NLP founders’ website.  In brief, they say that

NLP is founded on two fundamental presuppositions:1. The Map is Not the Territory…we can never know reality. We can only know our perceptions of reality….It is generally not reality that limits us or empowers us, but rather our map of reality. 2. Life and ‘Mind’ are Systemic Processes. It is not possible to completely isolate any part of the system from the rest of the system.”

You can get much more detail on their website.

My Next Disappearing Act

Eyes gazing at crystal ballYes, I’m about to do it again, which means that my posts will continue to be “irregular,” to put it politely.  Soon, I’ll be attending a certification class, so I can provide hypnosis techniques, along with the NLP, to help people overcome traumas and dramas in their lives or simply to become more successful.

Blue Water drop and ripplesIf you think you’ve never meditated or been capable of being hypnotized, just think back to a time when you stared at a sunset/sunrise, or at a flickering candle flame, or at a fireplace. You were there, Baby Cakes! You were there in your Alpha brain wave state or deeper. It is so relaxing and rejuvenating! I already know how to do this, but I want to get the certification to prove it. I’ll have to pass an exam and hold practice sessions for that, too; so, stay tuned!

Why Would I Do These Things?

These are just more tools in my toolbox for being able to help people meet their own needs. Let’s explore together. Contact me with questions, or to schedule a session (still free during the practice sessions; but definitely not thereafter!)
