Procrastination Resolved by NLP Visualization

Sally, daydreaming and procrastinatingNeed help overcoming procrastination? NLP and Creative Visualization can help, and I’m giving you a How To script right here, right now!

There are SO MANY uses for this technique, including project management (personal or professional).

Case in point: My client had procrastinated for EIGHT YEARS about an interior design project for a bathroom in her home.

Sally energized and overcoming procrastinationAfter just one session with me, using Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) in a creative visualization technique, this full-time employee had bought the supplies within one week and both started and finished the project (which included painting the whole room) the next weekend!

Even better, she now knows how to overcome procrastination on issues, large and small.

Harder Stuff

After we go through the script below, I’ll give you examples of more difficult challenges on which you can use this “procrastination technique.” Examples include anger management and weight loss.

You can do this, too, and I going to teach you how! Continue Reading →

Chronic Pain, Absolution, VooDoo, & Help

Pain Hurts! (no kidding) What to Do About It

image shows chronic pain in back and neck of woman in ponytail

Under the auspices of the Virginia Department of Health, Prince William Area Agency on Aging, I completed the certification coursework for teaching people how to deal with chronic illness. Then, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and the final practice classes were canceled. However, I learned about several things that influence chronic conditions, including pain, and most of them confirm what I already knew and have talked about as a certified practitioner of healing modalities over many years. You may have seen my posts or have been in my classes about:

Influences Affecting Chronic Pain Levels

  • balancing emotions – establishing methods – (e.g., physical activity, meditation, listening to music, hypnotherapy, counseling, etc.) for relieving anxiety and depression
  • breathing – shallowly or consciously, deeply, and purposefully (There are many techniques with differing emphasis on various parts of the body.)
  • evaluating nutritional intake – proper – or inflammatory and bone-deconstructing foods and drinks
  • exercising – mental (learning helpful, practical skills; keeping mentally alert; distracting oneself from pain)
  • exercising – physical (how much, when, and whether to do it while in pain) (aerobic exercise for immobile people – the chi machine)
  • making decisions – avoided or done well (with the help of a coach, counselor, or caregiver, if necessary)
  • sleeping – well or poorly (the amount needed and techniques for inducing restful sleep and for avoiding disrupted sleep. Since I’m not going into detail here, I’ll just share the link to my Sleep Like a Baby guided meditation which is available wherever you get your audio media. It put the sound engineer to sleep mid-recording session!)
  • using self-management tasks, like:
    • scheduling medications and making lists of questions for health care providers
    • acquiring tools and other aids needed to accomplish functions that used to be easy (like step stools for reaching high shelves or shoe hooks for inserting feet into shoes without having to bend down)
    • creating a plan to address emergencies
  • using holistic healing modalities, like Reiki, massage, hypnotherapy, and natural foods and herbs. Click Here for more tools and tips.

NLP ~ Neuro-linguistic Programming ~ Plus Hypnosis

Hypnosis Demystified and Combined With Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP)

Clear Negative Emotions

Girl Meditating on BeachAre you one of those people who thinks you cannot be hypnotized? SURPRISE! All hypnosis is self-hypnosis, AND you get into the hypnotic brainwave state at least twice a day in typical activities. You are in the hypnosis brainwave state when you enter that condition (known to some as “la-la land”) right before you fall asleep and again when you re-emerge from sleep while awakening – before you get to full consciousness. During meditation, you also are in a hypnotic state of mind. Let’s learn the benefits of combining a hypnosis process with Neuro-linguistic Programming (NL). I have many tools and techniques to use in personal coaching and spiritual counseling sessions, and I count hypnotherapy and NLP as key components among them.

We’ll give details below; but, first:

Did You Know The Catholic Church and the American Medical Association Endorse Hypnosis as a LegitimateTherapy?

Yes, they do! The Catholic Church accepted hypnotherapy in 1956, and the AMA did so in 1958.

What Are Some Statistics About the Effectiveness of Hypnotherapy and Neuro-linguistic Programming?

Master NLP Hypnosis Teacher, Dr. Yvonne OswaldMy Master NLP Teacher, Dr. Yvonne Oswald, who is the award-winning, best-selling author of Every Word Has Power, shared the following results from a research study.

  • About 38% of people who undergo psychoanalysis recover after 600 sessions. She points out you could get better results by talking with your friends!
  • About 72% of clients who undergo behavior therapy get better after 22 sessions.
  • An astounding 93% of people have noticeable improvement after 6 sessions in hypnosis; and, when you add NLP exercises, they have made great changes with only 1,  2 or 3 sessions.

That is an amazing savings of time, money, and grief and well worth trying.

Why Do You Care? Neuro-linguistic Programming Can Help You Overcome Fear, Guilt, Shame, Anger, Limiting Beliefs, PTSD, and More … Oh, There’s That!

Before we do an exercise, let’s understand more about what our conscious, subconscious, and unconscious minds process in various brainwave states. Hypnosis involves a brain-wave state just like everything else we do. Here’s how those states break down, according to BrainWorks. I urge you to read their whole article via the link just given.

At the root of all our thoughts, emotions and behaviours is the communication between neurons within our brains. Brainwaves are produced by synchronised electrical pulses from masses of neurons communicating with each other.Brainwave speed is measured in Hertz (cycles per second) and they are divided into bands delineating slow, moderate, and fast waves.

DELTA WAVES (.5 TO 3 HZ)

Delta brainwaves are slow, loud brainwaves (low frequency and deeply penetrating, like a drumbeat). They are generated in deepest meditation and dreamless sleep. Delta waves suspend external awareness and are the source of empathy. Healing and regeneration are stimulated in this state, and that is why deep restorative sleep is so essential to the healing process.

THETA WAVES (3 TO 8 HZ)

Theta brainwaves occur most often in sleep but are also dominant in deep meditation. Theta is our gateway to learning, memory, and intuition. In theta, our senses are withdrawn from the external world and focused on signals originating from within. It is that twilight state which we normally only experience fleetingly as we wake or drift off to sleep. In theta we are in a dream; vivid imagery, intuition and information beyond our normal conscious awareness. It’s where we hold our ‘stuff’, our fears, troubled history, and nightmares.

ALPHA WAVES (8 TO 12 HZ)

Alpha brainwaves are dominant during quietly flowing thoughts, and in some meditative states. Alpha is ‘the power of now’, being here, in the present. Alpha is the resting state for the brain. Alpha waves aid overall mental coordination, calmness, alertness, mind/body integration and learning.

BETA WAVES (12 TO 38 HZ)

Beta brainwaves dominate our normal waking state of consciousness when attention is directed towards cognitive tasks and the outside world. Beta is a ‘fast’ activity, present when we are alert, attentive, engaged in problem solving, judgment, decision making, or focused mental activity.

Beta brainwaves are further divided into three bands…. Read more in the article.

GAMMA WAVES (38 TO 42 HZ)

Gamma brainwaves are the fastest of brain waves (high frequency, like a flute), and relate to simultaneous processing of information from different brain areas. Gamma brainwaves pass information rapidly and quietly. The most subtle of the brainwave frequencies, the mind has to be quiet to access gamma….” Read more in the article about spiritual emergence.

Dr. Yvonne Offers An NLP Way To Clear Negative Emotions Quickly and Lastingly

image of girl cowering in fearMy teacher talks about when we are afraid, we run; and, when we can’t run, we must stand and fight. When we have to “fight,” we become angry in the Fight or Flight model.

She says she does not ask her clients why they feel depressed, but, rather, at whom they are angry. (They might be angry at someone else, at a situation, and/or at themselves.) Dr. Yvonne adds, “if you can’t clear the anger, you can’t clear the rest.”

(unhappy smiley face with thumbs downNote: guilt is feeling bad about ourselves because of something we are/did, etc.  Shame is a feeling we get from the attitudes or actions of others. She used the two together in the video below for teaching purposes; but, typically, in NLP, we clear only one emotional layer at a time.)

Mind Magic by Dr. Yvonne Oswald is an NLP Exercise

We’ll watch her go through it for us in the video. However, since she talks very fast, I’m giving you the words for the routine. Repeat each section three times.

  •     I Release the root cause of the anger and frustration and preserve the positive lessons for my health and benefit.
  •     I Release the root cause of sadness and hurt and preserve the positive lessons for my health and benefit.
  •     I Release the root cause of the fear and preserve the positive lessons for my health and benefit.
  •     I Release the root cause of the guilt and shame and preserve the positive lessons for my health and benefit.

BBM Global Network

Who Knew There is a BBM Global Network! This link is to new radio shows put on by my NLP (Neuro-linguistic Programming) Master Teacher, Dr. Yvonne Oswald. However, it also might interest you, because this BBM Global Network might let you have an on-air show, too. Check it out, if you’re interested and let me know how it worked out for you!

The Dr. Yvonne Breakthrough Show

A View of NLP

First, The methods of neuro-linguistic programming are the specific techniques used to perform and teach neuro-linguistic programming, a pseudoscience[1][2] which teaches that people are only able to perceive a small part of the world using their conscious awareness, and that this view of the world is filtered by experience, beliefs, values, assumptions, and biological sensory systems. NLP argues that people act and feel based on their perception of the world rather than the real world.

How To Create  Effective Intentions and Affirmations

Even if you don’t want a radio show, we’ll be demonstrating some NLP principles in my next class on “How To Create  Effective Intentions and Affirmations.” This may be converted to an on-line course, but, if you’re available to come to the Manassas, VA location, I hope you’ll join us. There will be several people in attendance. They just don’t use Meetup, so you don’t see them here. Contact me at GetWellStayWell@Outlook.com and put “Class on Effective Affirmations” in the subject line. If a class is not already scheduled, we can arrange a new one for you or  your group.

My Classes or Coaching Sessions

(Separate from the BBM Global Network)

  1. To start using NLP principles in our language, we’re going to review some basic principles for setting intentions and creating affirmations first.
  2. Afterward, we shall create some of our own affirmations and try them out on each other to make sure they are worded in a way to create the desired effect.
  3. Rev. 4-18-21: at this juncture, we’re still in COVID-19 Pandemic mode, following the guidelines of the CDC and WHO. Thus, I am holding classes online via Zoom. You can book a private coaching session or a class on this topic (or on a variety of topics) for yourself or for a group.
  4. I also use the NLP principles in creating off-the-shelf and for customized HypnoMeditations for you.

The easiest way to ensure a seat in any class is to pay online via Zelle or PayPal. (Zelle is used by many banks to transfer money from your debit or credit account without the kinds of fees that PayPal charges.)

You may pay here or at the door by cash or check (payable to My Persuasive Presentations), but we must have your RSVP in advance, because seating is limited, and the materials have to be printed.

Typically, sessions cost $60 each, unless the client puts me on retainer, in which case they may qualify to be a VIP Client with a reduced rate of $50 per session and a rise to high priority scheduling. The preferred method of payment is by Zelle or PayPal.
