NEW DAILY PERSISTENT HEADACHE
That’s the real name of a real headache sequence that people are experiencing.
Daily Headaches – I’m writing about this on April 30th, 2023, because I have had a constant headache since late October or the first week in November 2022, and there is no end in sight!
It is not a series of headaches. Instead, it is one long, unending headache.
It recedes in intensity when I am sitting, standing, or walking. Boom! It then flares to high-level pain when I bend downward (like to put on shoes). It reaches a peak when I cough or sneeze and feels like it will “blow the top of my head off!”
Is the Headache a Migraine?
Healthcare providers and others keep referring to it as a migraine. My mother suffered from migraines that lasted 2 or 3 days. She was super sensitive to light and sound, and she experienced nausea and other typical symptoms. I have none of that and have lived a long life without being prone to any kind of headaches.
Consequently, I don’t think a diagnosis of “migraine headache” is accurate, but it was a starting place when I began researching the topic. Below is a quote that enabled me to find a new way to understand what is happening. Perhaps, it will help you or someone you know who is having a similar experience.

Symptoms: Best described as the rapid development (less than three days) of unrelenting headache. Typically presents in a person with no past history of headache.
Precipitating Factors: Does not evolve from migraine or episodic tension-type headache. It begins as a new headache and may be the result of a viral infection.
Treatment: Can resolve on its own within several months. Other cases persist and are more refractory.
Prevention: Does not respond to traditional options, but anti-seizure medications, Topamax, or Neurontine can be used.
Not being a person who wants to take medications, I am trying various techniques used by chiropractors, acupuncturists, and craniosacral or massage therapists.
I’m just starting to experiment with magnet therapy. Magnetic sleeves have greatly helped knee pain, but I have not found an equivalent for the head/neck yet.
Usually, my trusty Healy (that is FDA-cleared for pain relief) provides fast and effective pain relief, but it has been ineffective in this instance.
My doctor says none of my symptoms indicate a tumor; however, I hope to have an MRI in mid-May.
What Is the Metaphysical Answer to a Headache?
Of course, as a holistic healer, I am searching my Louise Hay “bible” Heal Your Body – a book containing correlations among physical symptoms and emotional or mental states. I do find those concepts credible, but affirmations are not the way in which this pain is going to be overcome soon, in my opinion. I’ll still do the spiritual and personal growth work while I search for more mechanical means of help.
The lack of resolution is causing me
That is to be expected. Surprisingly, the degree of stress does not seem to increase or decrease the intensity of the headache!
Could a Virus Be At Fault?
In addition, the words that “jumped out at me” in the above quote were “may be the result of a viral infection.” That is something no care provider has considered, so I need to find out how to determine if it is a cause.
