So, why would I feature this company in a blog again? Because “Dr. C” taught me something new AGAIN! It’s working, and I want to share a few results with you in case you can benefit as well! Many people try It for enhancing beauty and attempts at weight loss, but my first goal is all about relief from severe pain.
Natural Results! Woo Hoo!
Now, I’m feeling the difference in effectiveness between Red Light Therapy (RLT) treatments from his “mega” equipment versus the results I get when I self-administer RLT using less powerful equipment at home.
Recently, I compiled an entire blog (with medical research links) about RLT and the varied benefits people have enjoyed from using it. Click Here to read the details. This time, my comments are based on experience, not just research. Below, I’ll share my outcomes from six treatments, and I’ll tell you what a session is like at Natural Results Chiropractic Clinic, in case you’d like to try it. (As always, I’ll throw in some educational info about physical conditions along the way. Feel free to scroll past it to the parts that matter more to you.)
But, First –
NOTE: I’m not a medical professional and do not diagnose or treat symptoms. Nor do I give medical advice. Instead, I’m writing about this, having benefited from both “small” versions and the more powerful version, offered by my chiropractor at Natural Results Chiropractic Clinic in Front Royal, Virginia.
Before starting red light therapy, Julie Russak, MD, a board-certified dermatologist and founder of Russak Aesthetic Center in New York City suggests consulting with a dermatologist or a healthcare professional. “They can help determine if it’s suitable for your specific skin condition and provide personalized recommendations,” she says.
What About the Science?
Briefly, the Cleveland Clinic Describes How RLT May Work
Red light therapy is thought to work by acting on the “power plant” in your body’s cells called mitochondria.
With more energy, other cells can do their work more efficiently, doing things like repairing skin, boosting new cell growth and enhancing skin rejuvenation.
More specifically, certain cells absorb light wavelengths and are stimulated to work.
Red light therapy may work in skin health to:
-
-
- Stimulate collagen production, which gives skin its structure, strength, and elasticity.
- Increase fibroblast production, which makes collagen. Collagen is a component of connective tissue that builds skin.
- Increase blood circulation to the tissue.
- Reduce inflammation in cells.
-
When I wrote last month’s blog, my experience was almost exclusively with my own RLT devices which are much smaller and less intense. Now, at Natural Results Chiropractic Clinic, I’ve had a handful of sessions “under the big light” and already can report significant results as I see and feel them in my body.
HIP PAIN – Caused By Trochanteric Bursitis
I’ve suffered from severe hip pain on the right side for at least twenty years! I finally got a diagnosis in 2024. It is trochanteric bursitis, which is very difficult to resolve. The Cleveland Clinic explains.
Bursitis is swelling in a small, fluid-filled sac called a bursa. Bursae (the plural of bursa) cushion spaces around bones and other tissue. They’re like bubble wrap that protects structures throughout your body.
Your hip joint is where your thigh bone (femur) connects to your pelvis. The pointed upper, outside edge of your femur is called the greater trochanter. Trochanteric bursitis happens when the bursa that covers your greater trochanter is damaged, inflamed or irritated

Because chiropractors have told me this condition is difficult to heal, I’ll share a few more details with you. If these symptoms sound “painfully familiar” (pun intended), you might want to try Red Light Therapy after consulting with your healthcare provider about whether to use it.
- Trochanteric bursitis is the painful swelling, also called inflammation, of a specific fluid-filled sac in the hip.
- This sac, also known as a bursa, covers a part of the hip bone called the greater trochanter.
- Risk factors for trochanteric bursitis include overuse of the hip, a hip injury, and spine conditions such as scoliosis.
- Trochanteric bursitis causes pain in the point of the hip. The pain often spreads to the outer thigh area.
- At first, the pain may feel sharp and intense. Later, it may turn into an ache that spreads across the hip.
- The pain is often worse at night while lying on the hip and when rising from a chair after sitting for a while.
So, Did My Hip Pain Change After RLT at Natural Results Chiropractic Clinic?
Yes! I was amazed to find that – after only one 10-minute session in the morning – the pain subsided considerably. For the first time IN YEARS, the hip pain did NOT awaken me throughout the night! Remember, I have had this pain at least since the year 2000 if not longer.
I think it started in the 1990s and is related to my commuting an average of 100 miles a day, every day, for many years. When I was driving, I felt the seat belt clasp rubbing against my hip constantly, and, eventually, the pain existed when I was not in the car. It now is with me 24/7, but it’s at its most horrible at night or whenever I am lying down.
The pain remained reduced for some days after that first session, and I had one more 10-minute treatment which lowered it further.
Of course, this condition is “ancient,” so more treatments may have been immediately beneficial, but I wanted to try RLT on a different body part, so I stopped there for a moment and spent the next 4 sessions lying on my back instead of on my side.
Yesterday, I went back for a hip treatment. Once again, although not cured, the pain was reduced sufficiently to allow me to sleep throughout the night without being awakened by pain! That feels like a miracle!
It also leads me to believe that I may be able to eliminate the inflammation and provide deep healing to resolve the situation with a few more treatments. We’ll see. I’m going to try it! Other modalities, such as acupuncture, dry needling, Reiki, and more, have been ineffective, so “there is nothing to lose” in an attempt to cure the condition with a few more RLT sessions.
What Else Happened After RLT at Natural Results Chiropractic Clinic?
Background: I’ve had a headache for two years!
I’m Always Looking for Natural Results, But …
I have tried many kinds of holistic treatments, as well as seeing a Neurosurgeon (who is one of the best in the country). He admits that the cause of “New Persistent Daily Headaches” is unknown, as is the cure.
“New daily persistent headache (NDPH) is a rare disorder that happens unpredictably and for unknown reasons. People with NDPH have a headache that won’t stop and doesn’t get better with common treatments. For some people, the headache can last years or never goes away. Treatment options are available but aren’t always successful.” ~ Cleveland Clinic
After having tried several alternative medicine treatments – such as acupuncture, craniosacral therapy, and various kinds of medical massage – I was advised to take prescription medication. Not only am I averse to the concept of taking medications on a long-term basis, but that specific medication can harm the kidneys, heart, and other organs. Thus, I’m still seeking a solution that gets to the CAUSE of the condition.
More Brief Background ~ Cough Variant Asthma
Coughing, sneezing, lifting heavy objects, and bending forward cause the headache pain to increase enormously. I was diagnosed some years ago as having “cough variant asthma.”
Cough-variant asthma is a type of asthma where a dry cough is your only symptom. You don’t have “traditional” asthma symptoms, like shortness of breath or wheezing. Exercise, cold air and weather changes may trigger it. It’s manageable with asthma treatment, like inhalers.” ~ Cleveland Clinic
What Else?
In addition, I’m allergic to trees, shrubs, and grasses – AND I LIVE IN A WOODED housing development! So, I cough more than the average person does.
The Theory of the Case:
“If I can’t solve the headache, maybe I can solve the chest and sinus congestion that causes coughing, and that will reduce the headache!”
That’s why I chose to use the remaining 4 RL sessions that I had booked to place the red light equipment over my face, neck, chest, and abdomen. In the research I did previously, RLT has not been mentioned for chest congestion or asthma. Therefore, this is merely an experiment on my part, and here is what I found.
I am a workaholic, so I pay close attention to my breathing only when all gets quiet as I’m about to sleep at night. In recent years, I’ve been able to hear and feel the vibration of a light, but steady “wheezing” in my chest, and the congestion there often contributes to my coughing, which sometimes wakes me up. It also “jacks up” the intensity of the headache to almost intolerable. As the condition has remained, the intensity of the headache has lasted longer and longer before subsiding.
Beginning with the first time I had RLT on my chest at Natural Results Chiropractic Clinic, I could feel a difference (both day and night), and it truly appears the congestion is lessened. I feel less like I have a “ball of sludge” in my chest, and it seems easier to breathe.
Another “proof” of improvement is that the number of times I cough (or have ‘coughing fits’) has been greatly reduced. Consequently, the headache pain (that is stimulated by and becomes excruciating after coughs) has been greatly reduced.
In addition, when the pain does “explode,” it often is much LESS intense than it was before I had the four RLT treatments.
The difference is sufficient that I intend to pay for more RLT sessions with the light placed over my head, neck, and chest.
Why is it important to mention that? Because, like many of you, I have lots of other expenses and limited – sometimes INSUFFICIENT – income to pay for them. So, spending involves prioritization beyond the occasional concert or ice cream cone.
My message here is that these treatments may be an excellent investment in improved health with a value beyond the benefits of other expenditures!
Other Benefits
A lovely side-benefit is that – on the hand exposed to the RLT, “age spots” began to lighten, including one very large, very dark place that has been present for YEARS! Lots of people use RLT simply as a beauty enhancement, versus for pain. Why not do both?

There is a lot of research currently being conducted on the many potential uses of Red Light Therapy. I again refer you to last month’s blog to see other uses now available to get links to research by legitimate scientists in the medical field. “Describe an RLT Session at the
Natural Results Chiropractic Clinic”
OK, I shall.
Here goes.

Dr. Cabazolo may be the Commander in Chief, but Kim is his Chief of Staff and the entire Cabinet, to use a political metaphor. Whether it’s simultaneously handling accounting and insurance issues, ordering supplies, reassuring a fearful patient, and moving people efficiently to various locations for differing services, Kim remains professional, and kind. She’s the public relations pro, but also the enforcer, as well as the operations manager who must know every detail in every department. She’s smart and insightful. It’s a good thing that she is a master of time management! SO ~
- Book your appointment with Kim. Specify the kind of session you are requesting. Some sessions last ten minutes. That is the kind I chose for hip pain. Other sessions, like body contouring, involve the application of the red light in more positions on your body and are thirty minutes long.
- Dress for the occasion! RLT, according to most medical research study results, does not work well through clothing. You will need to expose the parts of your body that need treatment.
- Most of us don’t run around in bikinis, especially in winter, so my choice is to wear something with shorts that also can readily expose my midriff during the session, but I wear a light coat to hide all that while I’m in the waiting room.
- You can keep your underwear on if it is not your chest that you want to have exposed to the red lights. If you’re a female, who is trying this modality for weight loss, you will want the lights to penetrate your stomach and abdomen, but, perhaps not to decrease breast tissue.
- We have discovered that black clothing gets too hot and can cause itching sensations on the skin. Don’t wear black!
- You are escorted to a private room and will lie on a chiropractic table, during the session. Whoever is attending can offer you a pillow, a bolster for under the knees, and a covering for parts of the body that might get too hot. You will get small, darkened goggles for eye protection before your caregiver leaves the room.
- The light is large enough to cover (I’m guessing) about 3 feet of your body. It is on a large stand and will be placed at the appropriate height above your body. If, at any time, you feel too uncomfortable, you can gently push the stand away from you, so you don’t have to wait for your caregiver’s return.
- The attending caregiver turns on the red lights and timer and leaves the room.
- Now is your time to relax and be grateful for the healing effects of the RLT technology.
What Does It Feel Like?
I describe it by saying, “It’s like taking a sunbath at the beach but without the five-hour commute to get there and without any sand in your shoes and food!” It is warming and can be extremely relaxing.
Allow yourself to soak in the healing rays, be still, and enjoy yourself for these precious minutes.
Then What?
Then, the lights go out as the timer indicates. There is no bell – just the resumption of relative darkness. At that point, you can gently push away the lights at the base stand, and sit up slowly before getting properly dressed again. If the caregiver has not yet re-entered the room, simply leave the bedding and goggles in place and go to the reception desk to pay and/or schedule another session of whatever type you wish.
