To Sleep, Perchance to Dream
I know someone who has had multiple NDE (Near Death Experiences), except he actually died beyond “the point of no return.” Nevertheless, his soul was restored to his body. He says that, when we die, we get a “Life Review” of everything we have done, including our dreams. We learn how our actions (and some inactions) affected others. In addition, we learn what every dream meant or signified. But, sometimes, we want to know NOW – and not wait for a Life Review. Thus, I am guided to post several blogs on various aspects of this topic.
“To sleep, perchance to dream…” – that famous line from Shakespeare’s Hamlet – hints at what mystics, poets, and seekers have long known. Sleep may open a doorway to another world: one where dreams are not mere fragments of thought, but messages – often coded, sometimes luminous – sent from the deeper Self.
In this article, we explore how dreams can serve as profound communications from your Soul. Far more than subconscious processing, some dreams contain guidance, memories, healing, and even glimpses into other timelines or lifetimes.
This introduction is the first post in a series on Restorative & Revelatory Sleep & Dreams, designed to help you not only sleep better, but remember more. Continue Reading →
Grounding, often called “earthing,” simply involves standing on the earth in bare feet – preferably for 30 minutes. I just had AMAZING benefits from doing it just once for even less time! In part, it resulted in my suddenly not needing (or even qualifying) for knee replacement surgery AND SLEEPING BETTER WITH LESS PAIN! It can reduce swelling, elevate mood, positively affect heart and weight health, and more!
That raised many questions, as I learned it significantly reduces inflammation and has other health benefits. You’re busy. So, to give you options, I’ve listed what’s in this article. Then you can decide whether to 1) read the whole thing, or 2) scroll directly to the questions that interest you most, or 3) go only to the summary answers.
I’ll put a big question mark before each new set of questions so you can tell if you want to know the answers.
First, I’ll share a Sneak Peek at the questions – both for those who want to know just a little and for those who want to take a deeper dive – complete with scientific resources used by Perplexity in helping me craft this information for you.
As you scroll down, you can see the answers, marked by an A.
AND / OR,
You can find the Summaries at the end of each topic.
I’ll mark them with the letter S.

Here is the script ~ to be spoken aloud or silently before bed or during wakeful hours when rest will not come.
Begin by placing one hand over your heart and one over your lower abdomen. Take three slow, deep breaths—each longer than the last. Let the earth hold you. Let the stars hear you.
I now surrender the burdens I was never meant to carry through the night.
I give back what is not mine, across time, across dimensions, across lineages.
I do not have to resolve it all before I rest.
I do not have to remember everything before I release it.
The sacred tasks of the day are complete.
What is unfinished belongs to tomorrow, or to the angels.
I no longer confuse vigilance with love.
I no longer confuse exhaustion with purpose.
I call now to the Guides who keep watch in the twilight.
Wrap me in the frequency of restoration.
Remove the armor I forgot I was wearing.
Unclench my jaw, soften my spine, still my mind.
My soul is safe to wander.
My body is safe to rest.
I enter now the Temple of Sacred Sleep.
Where stars anoint my skin with silver peace.
Where the lullaby of the Universe sings to my cells.
Where no thought is needed, no deed demanded.
I return to the beginning. I return to the breath.
I return to the cradle of the cosmos.
I sleep not in escape, but in trust.
I sleep not in collapse, but in communion.
I sleep, because I am held.
Take one final breath and exhale with sound. Let the veil fall gently.

Sleep in the Heat of Hot Weather | Some Tips
See a BBC article that gives good advice for everyone who has trouble going to sleep or staying asleep in hot weather. In case you don’t want to read the whole thing, below are the main tips they suggest for use during hot weather.
– Cotton helps absorb perspiration
– Cooling your feet lowers the overall temperature of your skin and body.
– Drink enough water throughout the day, but avoid drinking large amounts before bed.
Nancy’s Note: The article gives some tips, but I would add that there are other tools, such as listening to soothing music, reading something boring, meditating, and simply concentrating on your breath often help. If nothing works, it’s okay to accept that, get up, and do some activity until you’re tired enough to go back to bed and sleep.
Children are usually quite robust sleepers, but they are very sensitive to changes in family “mood” and routine. Make sure usual bedtimes and bath times don’t go out the window just because it’s warm. As part of the bedtime routine, lukewarm baths are recommended by the NHS UK website. Make sure they aren’t too cold, as that will boost circulation (your body’s way of keeping warm).
Most of us need about seven to eight hours of good-quality sleep each night to function properly. (…paraphrasing, ‘but you’ll live if you violate that need sometimes.’)
These tips were based on suggestions by Prof Kevin Morgan, former director of the Clinical Sleep Research Unit at Loughborough University, and Lisa Artis, of the Sleep Council. This article was first published in July 2019.
Of course, you can always get my Sleep Like A Baby guided meditation to play once when you get to bed or to loop throughout the night to help you get back to sleep quickly if you awaken.
The American Academy of Sleep Medicine states:
Sleep deprivation occurs when an individual fails to get enough sleep. The amount of sleep that a person needs varies from one person to another, but on average most adults need about seven to eight hours of sleep each night to feel alert and well-rested. Teens need an average of about nine hours of sleep per night, and children
need nine hours of nightly sleep or more, depending on their age.

According to WebMD, ADD and ADHD refer to a conditions with symptoms such as inattentiveness, impulsivity, and hyperactivity.
The symptoms differ from person to person. ADHD was formerly called ADD, or attention deficit disorder. Both children and adults can have ADHD, but the symptoms always begin in childhood. Adults with ADHD may have trouble managing time, being organized, setting goals, and holding down a job.”
The A.D.D. Resource Center gives more details. (Note: I’m going to use both terms (ADD and ADHD) occasionally, because (although I might be wrong) I don’t think everyone who has these symptoms is hyperactive. However, the new convention is to refer to all symptoms under the label ADHD.)

DO YOU SLEEP LIKE A BABY? OR…
DO YOU HAVE TROUBLE FALLING ASLEEP AND STAYING ASLEEP?
This is what I call the audio recording I created to help people quit worrying and not only fall asleep, but stay asleep with continued use.
…Because the sound engineer fell asleep while we were recording it, and because every time my employees tested it, they fell asleep partway through it and never could stay awake until the end, even though they were sitting or standing!
Each meditation is 30 minutes long and repeats once. Click on these links to hear a sample of the music selections, which are: 1) Llewellyn’s Reiki Starlight, 2) Llewellyn’s Reiki White Light, or 3) Tibetan Healing Sounds with bells and chimes as background. An additional version has no music, so you can have silence, or choose your preferred background sounds, like water, nature sounds, white noise, etc. Copyright permissions were granted by Paradise Music & Media, and my sound mixer is Gokul Chalasani.
