stick_figure + letters Q & A - how can we eliminate inflammationQ:  “Why does the body have inflammation?”

A.  Eliminating inflammation is important, because inflammation indicates that a body is trying to counteract things like illness, injury, dementia, allergies, stings, and stress.

It not only is a healing mechanism, but also is a valuable message to the body’s “owner” that something is wrong and needs attention.

We should LOVE our inflammation first (for telling us the body needs help) —  and then get rid of it!

Dr. Andrew Weil

Note:  I love Dr. Andrew Weil, who currently is Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona.  Wikipedia has all the details; but, briefly, Dr.  Weil is world-famous for establishing the field of integrative medicine, which aims to combine alternative and conventional medicine.  He is a physician, and a research biologist, who truly understands the effects of plants on the body.

Here is a quote from his blog/web site, where you can get lots of information on a regular basis:

Optimal health does not come from a “miracle” drug or a fad diet, but is instead the result of making prudent daily decisions about how to eat, exercise, handle stress and connect with others.

One solution to inflammation is to eat and drink properly, using beneficial, anti-inflammatory foods.  Click on this picture of his Anti-Inflammatory Food Pyramid, where you can get the information by looking at the graphic.  He also has created a specific diet for you to follow.

“What Does An Anti-Inflammatory Diet Do? The anti-inflammatory diet is a blueprint for a lifetime of optimum nutrition. Simple changes in how you eat can help counteract chronic inflammation, a root cause of many serious diseases, including:

OK, you can go to Dr. Weil’s website to learn more about this and a million other subjects. Meanwhile, let’s refer to how inflammation affects/causes aging.

Inflammation and Aging Processes

Here’s a new word for you:  Senescence (/sɪˈnɛsəns/) (from Latin: senescere, meaning “to grow old”, from senex) or biological aging (also spelled biological ageing). (Thanks, Wikipedia.) I advise you to read this article only if you have sophisticated vocabulary and a serious interest in the subject.  The bottom line is that some theories of aging relate directly to the levels of inflammation and free radical damage present in the body.

Since there are so many anti-inflammatory foods, herbs, and options, and since we all want to preserve health and youthful bodies, I am going to refer you to another blog about food combinations and to future posts on this My Get Well Guru website, for some quick solutions, such as the use of ginger, aloe vera, and other items, rather than writing a whole thesis on this blog.  In the meantime, let’s reduce our…
